If you’re feeling uneasy about your career goals during work instability, THIS is my heart-to-heart to you:
Jobshare Revolution Episode 19: How to Handle Work Instability to Keep Your Career Goals on Track

Whether you’re facing a return-to-work mandate, a looming layoff, or other difficulties in your work life, this is my advice on how to keep your career goals on track.

Too often, we keep these struggles inside or worse, get bad advice when facing difficulties at work, and how to reach for and achieve our big career goals, whether a raise, a promotion, or work flexibility, like job sharing during times that feel less than stable at work.

When I started hearing the same concerns about return-to-work mandates, low morale, looming layoff rumors, or worse, actual layoffs—sometimes with discriminatory practices laying off pregnant women by faceless algorithmic layoffs—not only from our Work Muse clients but also my closest Ladies of Brilliance tribe, I knew we needed to step in to support our community at Work Muse—my work muses!

In episode 19, I’m sitting down for a heart-to-heart and my best advice for how to keep your goals on track, despite a less-than-supportive environment. If it’s been a rougher year than you expected, I made this episode for you.

Here’s a glance at this episode:

In Episode 19, I look inward to vulnerably and openly share:

  • [8:08] My words of encouragement to you and how not to succumb to desperate energy during a time of work instability, and instead, regain the power to keep your career goals on track.
  • [10:00] Why a “gap job” (like a “gap year” in college) can be a valid and respectable strategy to achieving your career goals.
  • [10:34] Why you should avoid well-meaning friends or family members whose career advice is unsupportive and unhelpful to attaining your career goals, and how to lean into a supportive community of care during a rough career patch.
  • [12:17] What an HR expert says about transparency during an interview or negotiation and the one thing to remember that will empower you to confidently negotiate a raise, promotion, flexibility, or benefits.
  • [13:43] Why I stuck to my guns when advocating to return to a job share to my Market VP despite her offer of a 30-hour workweek, and how doing so allowed me to face down the scariest time of instability I’d faced in my career, thanks to my job share.
  • [16:48] Three mantras that have helped me that you can use to help you when navigating unstable times at work while keeping your goals on track.

Listen in because the time to make your next bold move for your career and life is now! Your job share is just waiting to transform your life
