Listen on…
The best way to gain approval for a job share is to present the business case as a confident, competent professional.
If you’ve been considering creating a job share arrangement, you’ve likely thought, “Will my boss approve a job share?” You might have concerns about what your boss will think of you, your level of commitment, or that they’ll reject the idea of a job share arrangement from the get-go.
While the idea of proposing a job share arrangement may seem daunting or even scary, making any big career move, including working flexibly like job sharing, requires proposing the business case to gain approval. You will feel much more confident about broaching the topic and presenting a job share arrangement once you have laid out how you will divide and share the day-to-day responsibilities, the arrangement’s benefits to your organization, and how your job share can solve some of your employer’s biggest pains.
If you are worried that your boss or company will reject your job share, you’re not alone. It’s why I’m debunking this myth in episode 16 of our 4-part Myth Buster series to make sure that you are not letting your own limiting beliefs, self-doubt, or imposter syndrome prevent you from presenting a job share. Remember, even the most risk-averse boss can’t help but have their interest peaked by an innovative practice to stamp out burnout and turnover while producing better results.
