Working Mom Exodus of 2025 | Series Finale: Career Relaunch & AGEISM Secret Weapon

Women who take career breaks struggle with decreased confidence when trying to re-enter the workforce.

And in this brutal job market where AI is screening resumes and people are hitting their heads against the wall—ageism and the motherhood penalty make it even harder.

But what if you could bypass the nail-biting interviews altogether?

What if you could start at a senior level with built-in mentorship instead of interning or taking junior roles?

In episode 58 (series finale), you’ll discover:

  • ✔️ Why relaunches are harder than ever in 2025
  • ✔️ The confidence crisis no one’s talking about
  • ✔️ 5 strategic moves for mothers relaunching or transitioning
  • ✔️ The alternative path: Find your partner FIRST, bypass interviews, upskill together
  • ✔️ Why this is my absolute favorite way to start job sharing
  • ✔️ Series wrapup: Making sure you’re not part of the exodus

The Alternative Path

Here’s the genius of job sharing for career relaunches:

Instead of competing against uninterrupted work histories and explaining resume gaps, you find a suitable job share partner in your desired role or industry FIRST. You sell them on the idea, plan how the job will be shared together, and then their employer sees you as part of a solution—not someone who needs accommodation.

You’re likely coming in for what amounts to a final-round interview with your partner in the room. An all-star trusted employee is pitching you. You’re getting upskilled like an old-school apprenticeship—faster than starting solo. You have a personal cheerleader and built-in mentor.

You’re not starting at a disadvantage. You’re offering a high-performing team. Your success is their success.

This is my absolute favorite way to start job sharing (aside from returning from maternity leave) because both scenarios offer so much support.

Series wrap up:

This wraps our 7-part series tackling why 450,000 mothers left the U.S. workforce in the first half of 2025. Understanding how to make sure you’re not one of them is critical.

Job sharing is my life’s work. While the U.S. remains a sexist country that refuses to support our workforce with paid parental leave, accessible childcare and eldercare, or flexible work practices—job sharing doesn’t require government support to do it.

Nearly all job sharers create their own arrangements. And you can too. You just have to believe you can and put a plan into place.
