Why I Kept My Work-Life Secret from My Friends

And this is why:

One of my favorite things in life has been grocery shopping at Boggy Creek Farm. It’s wasn’t just about buying local food from my farmer picked fresh that morning that made it special, it was my weekly Friday morning date with my son Sam. Just he and me.

Every Friday, we ventured to the farm, soaked up the rays, walked through the crops filled with veggies and flowers, pet Buddy the farm dog and watched the chickens. We discovered new veggies and tried them together.

We spent quiet, precious time together. It was our thing.

We visited with my farmer Carol Ann and checker Tina.

When’s the last time you visited?

Job sharing gave me a precious gift

Working three days a week, with one day just for me and three days for my little ones was a gift. It was the elusive win-win-win for career-self-family that nobody seems to be able to snatch in our 24/7 work-world and many have never heard of either.

My stay-at-home and working mother friends each had struggles they dealt with, and I kind of kept my little secret to myself knowing that the balance I felt was super rare. I had other stresses but work-life balance wasn’t one of them.

Turning 40 brings on lots of things, and when I looked at where I wanted to spend my time, energy, and talent for my next phase in life, the idea for Work Muse began percolating…

I wanted to change the landscape,

make job sharing for more than 1 or 2%.

For everyone,

But more than anything, I wanted to make job sharing a reality for my friends,

for other working parents,

and all people feeling overwhelmed and stressed out as technology vaults ahead and work boundaries disappear.

That’s why boggy creek tools are your space

Boggy Creek Farm has a special place in my heart, an integral part of my weekly meditation and quality time with Sam and nature. And that’s why the featured image on every page dedicated to helping people create successful job shares, is a photo taken on a lazy Friday of old-school, work-with-your-hands Boggy Creek Farm tools.

Bringing Work Muse to life has been a labor of love, and I think of it very much like preparing the land, sowing the seeds, and harvesting your crops. And that makes me very very happy.

I look forward to helping you harvest happiness job sharing with all the support and tools you need for success. If you’d like to learn more about how to create a job share arrangement, email me and we’ll set up a date to visit…
