my story:

My family and I were fortunate that I had the opportunity to job share for nearly a decade in the radio industry.  It was life changing; the Holy Grail of work-life balance while raising my family and progressing in my profession.

I turned 40 last year and after 10 years at my company, I was ready to make a big change.  Job sharing was rare and scarce; I had former managers talk to me about coming into the tech arena, and then, there would be an awkward, “…but you can’t job share.”  I thought, “Why on earth not?”

In my experience (and that of every job sharer I came across), job sharers were the most focused, creative employees – efficient task masters dedicated to their careers and super loyal to their companies.

I started digging through every study I could find. The “aha moment” was immediate, the research corroborated what I intuitively knew from working this way myself – job sharers are the most productive, most loyal, and happiest employees. After a year-long research dive, I created a program for start-to-end job share design services for companies.

It didn’t take long for me to realize that making the change company by company wasn’t enough.  Many of my friends, Hell, most of my friends were struggling, about to throw in the towel completely on 15+ year careers – non-profit leaders, corporate managers, and dedicated professionals. I knew I had to create a way for people to take charge of their careers, empower themselves to work this way job sharing to get the work-life balance they need.

The business case is extremely strong – it’s a clear WIN-WIN.  You are able to work half the week with a capable partner who takes the reigns so you can fully unplug and be present in your life, and the employer has the 24-7 work they need.
